- Size and number of surfaces, walls, ceilings and especially detailed woodwork.
- Number of coats, big colour changes or patchy walls often need an extra coat.
- Paint choice, premium paints such as Farrow & Ball cost more than standard trade paint.
- Access, high ceilings, stairwells and exterior work at height take longer.
Typical Price Ranges
As a rough guide, a small bedroom with little preparation sits at the lower end, while large rooms with lots of woodwork, high ceilings or significant prep cost more. Exterior work is priced by the area, condition and access. Interior vs Exterior
Interior pricing is driven mostly by preparation and the amount of woodwork. Exterior pricing depends on the surface (masonry, render or timber), its condition, and safe access at height. Exterior work also has to be timed around dry weather so coatings cure properly.
